There’s something magical that happens when someone trusts you to create a piece of art just for them. It’s not just about paint on canvas. It’s about emotion, intention, connection. As an artist, commissioned work is one of the most meaningful parts of what I do.
It’s deeply personal, incredibly fulfilling, and full of heart. People often ask me what it’s like to paint a commissioned piece, and I always say it’s like creating a visual love letter. It’s about translating someone’s energy, dreams, or ideas into color, texture, and bold expression.
That’s a big deal. It’s vulnerable and beautiful and powerful. And I don’t take it lightly. But just because a painting is made for someone doesn’t mean I lose me in the process. In fact, quite the opposite. Every commissioned piece is etched in my style, whether that’s bold surrealism, richly layered abstracts, or floral explosions of joy. I stay true to what I do best: pieces that make statements, stir emotions, and make you want to look again… and again… and then maybe one more time because wait, was that always there?
Art That Lives With You
Whether it’s for a home, an office, or a meaningful gift, commissioned artwork becomes part of your everyday. It becomes the backdrop to your life. It’s the thing you walk by when your day is starting or when you’re finally sinking into the couch with a glass of wine. It’s art with purpose and presence. It breathes life and warmth into the space.
I especially love creating for offices — therapist spaces, healing environments, home workspaces — places where energy really matters. Color can shift a mood. Texture can pull you in. Art can do so much more than hang on a wall.
It can support you, your work, your clients, your peace of mind. I’ve had people tell me their custom piece brought joy into the room, or that their clients say they enjoy looking at the piece of art each and every time they are there. That kind of feedback? It means everything.
The Process is a Collaboration (Without Being Overwhelming) I get it. Commissioning art can feel intimidating if you’ve never done it before. But I promise, it doesn’t have to be. I guide the process every step of the way, and it’s built on trust. You don’t need to know the right art terms or have a perfect Pinterest board with exactly what you want. We’ll talk about the feeling you want to create, where it’s going to live, colors you love, and what speaks to you.
Then I take all of that in and translate it into a piece that’s layered with personality, Yours and Mine. I use professional-grade paints, rich texture mediums, palette knives, brushes, and fingers to build dimension and depth. My work is intentionally layered so that each time you look, you might discover something new — a little hidden moment, a swirl you hadn’t noticed, a shape that suddenly feels familiar. That’s part of the joy.
A Smile Every Time
The best part? Seeing the reaction. Watching someone’s face light up when they see their painting for the first time. There’s just nothing like it. It never gets old. I’ve had people cry. I’ve had people laugh. I’ve had people send me photos of the art in their homes, glowing with pride and joy. That’s when I know the piece did its job. It brought life. It brought smiles. It brought a little more beauty into the world and into someone’s world specifically.
That’s what commissioned art really is: it’s a gift. Sometimes for yourself, sometimes for someone else. But always one-of-a-kind, always intentional, and always infused with heart.
If you’ve ever wanted a piece of art that feels like it was made just for you — well, that’s because it can be. I’d be honored to bring your vision to life, through my creative arts and my hands.
Let’s make something beautiful together. Your walls are waiting for something special.
